Project Name:88-93 Newington Causeway, Southwark, London
Build Type:Residential (22 storey apartment block with commercial at ground)
An impressive multi-storey concrete framed tower built on a triangular piece of brownfield land in a town centre location with confined boundaries including a National Rail viaduct.
The structural scheme is an RC frame structure comprising of in-situ flat slabs supported on RC columns and RC shear walls to stair cores and lift shafts.
This scheme was chosen as the most adequate to address sway and second-order effects associated with the overall height of the building and the ratio height to width of the structure, all complying to relevant Building Regulations, Sustainability Code and British Standards to create the most cost effective structure.
The building stands on piled foundations and incorporates contiguous piling to the perimeters.
